Step moved to the United States following being kicked out of his house by his parents back in Italy because of a drug-related incident. Fabio was dragged along with him, which is how the both of them ended up in Waukon. Step got a job at a local corner store shortly before the owner went missing, so he began running the place until he got back. Step's personality and way of speaking is greatly different from his surroundings, considering he learned all of his english from South Park. Despite his unbelievably shit game, he managed to bag a famous performance art boxer, Bop, and they both just make out and sell each other weed.
Step's relationship with his cousin is incredibly strained, since Fabio didn't want to come with him, and Step is mad at him for taking on sex work. Step frequently visits the deli to harass his cousin and gossip, and also to bother the shit out of Boss, since he sees him as a potential father figure. Jude beat him in the dad race though, partially because he took time to see him, and because he didn't hospitalize him for a year, unlike Boss. He took on a sibling role to Jude's kid, Barrow, almost immediately.
